Again this summer, young rabbis from the Roving Rabbis program will walk the streets and squares of Northern Italy to reach Jews who live in towns and villages far from organized communities.
As announced by Rav Yossi Labi, the scheduled stops include Monza, Varese, Como, Bergamo, Brescia, Lake Garda, Trento, and other locations. The goal is simple and profound: to meet, to listen, to bring a moment of dialogue and Jewish inspiration, and to strengthen ties to our tradition.
"Every meeting is an opportunity to connect, rediscover and strengthen one's Jewish identity," recalls Rav Labi.
Many Jews living in these areas do not have easy access to synagogues, minyanim, or regular communal activities. The arrival of a roving rabbi thus becomes a special opportunity: laying tefillin, receiving a mezuzah, studying a passage of the Torah together, or sharing a thought for Shabbat.
It is not just about "providing a service," but about creating a human connection, often the first after months or years away from active Jewish life. Simple encounters, perhaps over a coffee or in a park, can spark new connections and encourage a path of spiritual growth.
If you know Jews living in these areas who would be interested in a meeting, please write directly:
