Youth, Sweets, and Sustainability: An International Project in the Beteavòn Kitchen

A wonderful project blending environmental awareness, international collaboration, and homemade sweets recently came to life in the Beteavòn kitchen.

Four high school girls from the Istituto Soderini in Milan, along with four peers from New York, directly contacted Beteavòn to ask if they could use the kitchen for a special initiative organized as part of the international ORT educational network.

What is ORT?

ORT (short for Organisation for Rehabilitation through Training) is a global educational network founded in 1880 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Today, it operates in over 60 countries, including Italy, the United States, Argentina, France, Israel, and more.

In Italy, ORT has been active since 1946, running institutions such as the Renzo Levi High School in Rome and the Jewish Community School in Milan. These schools offer high-quality scientific and technological education, enriched by international projects promoting global citizenship, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

The Eco.Sisters Project

Eco.Sisters is a project born from the collaboration of young people from different cities and cultures, united by a shared passion for the environment.

The girls decided to raise funds by selling homemade cookies and brownies to support local clean-up efforts. The money raised will be used to reward individuals who collect trash: anyone who fills a bag with litter will receive a piece of recycled plastic jewelry, designed by an eco-conscious artist.

To promote the initiative, they launched social media profiles:

Special Thanks

A heartfelt thank-you goes to volunteer Sonia, who assisted the girls with the baking, generously offering her time and support.

A Project That Inspires

We’re truly proud to see how spaces like Beteavòn can become hubs for growth, commitment, and awareness among the younger generation. This initiative is a shining example of how even small actions, backed by determination, can make a big impact.

Kol HaKavod to all the young women involved in this inspiring initiative!
